Farmers Insurance knows how important this kind of emergency training can be to saving lives at the office, at home, and in the community. We’re excited that they see the benefits of offering this training to their employees.

The American Red Cross of West Michigan and Farmers Insurance are partnering to offer a Citizen CPR training event for Farmers Insurance employees. If the turnout results are as expected, this will be the largest outdoor CPR training event ever held in West Michigan and possibly the entire state.

About 135 employees have signed up to participate in the training, which takes place on Wednesday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m. outside the Kraft Meadows Building on 5665 North Kraft Lake Drive within the Farmers Caledonia campus.

“Farmers Insurance knows how important this kind of emergency training can be to saving lives at the office, at home, and in the community,” said Kelly Hudson, Regional Communications Officer for the American Red Cross of West Michigan. “We’re excited that they see the benefits of offering this training to their employees.”

Recent research has shown that continuous Citizen CPR can be effective in caring for a person with no signs of life when a rescuer is unable, untrained, or unwilling to perform full CPR. Farmers employees will get a chance to practice the hands-only CPR technique and will also receive a plush compression practice tool to take home and share with their families.

A recent Red Cross survey showed that one in four people have been in a situation where someone needed CPR. In a life-threatening situation, performing hands-only CPR is better than doing nothing at all.
