Local Red Cross Hosts Disaster Training Institute

Who: Red Cross employees, Red Cross volunteers and representatives from partner organizations. Attendees include representatives from NJ, SC, PA, NY, MA, DE, as well as international Red Cross workers visiting from overseas.

What: The American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania will host 33 classes, including FEMA Incident Command System, Pet Preparedness with Red Paw, Mass Casualty response training, Disaster Kitchen Trainings, Trailer Towing, Forklift operations, Emergency Response Vehicle operation training, Disaster Assessment training and Public Affairs/Social Media training.

PHILADELPHIA – The American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania (SEPA) will host a premiere training opportunity to learn life-changing leadership skills. The Pennsylvania Disaster Training Institute offers training that emphasizes management skills as well as fundamentals related to disaster response. Nearly 200 people have already signed up for one or more of the disaster training classes. There are more than 500 spots filled in various classes over the five day period

Visuals will include: Large-scale cooking demonstrations at Red Cross House, participants learning to use a forklift, Emergency Response Vehicle driving, examining and assessing disaster damaged sites, and Pet preparedness and disaster response for animals.
