Long Island Red Cross High School and Campus Clubs hosted a bowl-a-thon on Sun., April 21, which they called the American Red Cross “Youth STRIKE against Disaster.” The event, which took place at AMF Commack Vet Lanes, raised funds to help the Red Cross provide food, comfort and shelter to those affected by disaster on Long Island.

The youth promoted the event in their schools and communities, encouraging people to come and bowl to raise funds. The youth themselves paid to bowl; additional fundraising included selling lollipops and raffling off donated prizes. The event raised $456 in just two hours. Attendees enjoyed the afternoon of bowling and camaraderie so much that many asked if the event would be held again.

The Red Cross on Long Island thanks Red Cross Club members from the following schools for putting on a fun, successful event: Smithtown West High School, Walt Whitman High School, St. Joseph’s College and Stony Brook University. We also thank friends, family, teachers and community members who pitched in to help.
