Mexico Branch Office hosting open house

The open house provides an opportunity for people to get to know the Red Cross and the ways we are serving the families in the Mexico area

Information on the American Red Cross Heart of Missouri Chapter and its services will be on display during an open house from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Chamber Office.

“The open house provides an opportunity for people to get to know the Red Cross and the ways we are serving the families in the Mexico area,” said Clayton Kennedy, the chapter’s community market manager. “The Red Cross has a long history and we will have information about that history as well as what we are doing today.”

In 2012, chapter volunteers responded to nine house fires in Audrain County and provided more than $4,000 in disaster relief to those affected.

Volunteers provide more than 96 percent of the disaster services offered by the Red Cross.

The open house will feature photos, displays, some period Red Cross uniforms and a slide show. Snacks will be provided.

Information about the Hometown Heroes Campaign, which is continuing in Audrain and Montgomery counties through Feb.1, will be available at the open house.

There also will be information on the 15th annual Dinner Auction, which is scheduled for March 9th at the Elks Lodge. Individuals who raised $500 during the Hometown Heroes Campaign to support local Red Cross programs will be honored at the dinner.
