Midwest River Region March is Red Cross Month Essay Contest

During Red Cross Month, the Midwest River Region of the American Red Cross is recognizing individuals who lend a hand to help those in need in communities across the country - and right here in our back yard! We bet you know someone who fits this description.

Please tell us about an individual you know who, through some act of kindness, courage and / or unselfishness has made a positive impact on your life. On 8 1/2” x 11” paper, write or type about your hero in 400 words or less. Be sure to include your name, age, address and phone number on the back of the sheet of paper.

All individuals in the Midwest River Region counties are invited to write about their hero. These counties include includes Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, Carroll, Ogle, Lee, Bureau, Henry, Mercer, Rock Island, Western Whiteside, Henderson, Warren and Knox counties in Illinois and Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Clayton, Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, Louisa, Des Moines, Henry and Lee counties in Iowa.

Submissions are being requested from the following age group categories. We will choose one winner from each group.

10 years old and younger
11 to 14 years old
15 to 17 years old
18 and above
