National Capital Wins Blood Services Chapter of the Year

Blood donors help so many people, and they do it because they understand the need for blood and know that their contribution will help someone.

The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region received the Chapter of the Year Award from the American Red Cross in the Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region for its commitment to Blood Services. The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region hosts a minimum of six to eight blood drives per month and has collected a total of 2,981 productive units.

Sandra Miller, Office Administrator, has dedicated herself to help Red Cross Blood Services. Miller diligently manages the scheduling of the chapter’s blood drives each month. The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region has served as host for additional blood drives when there is an urgent need for blood, especially around the summer and holidays, providing a place for donors to go when the emergency message goes out.

“I was ecstatic to win this award. It was an honor. I love working for the Red Cross, and I am very passionate about what we do. The blood drives are impactful. Blood donors help so many people, and they do it because they understand the need for blood and know that their contribution will help someone,” said Sandra Miller.
