Do You Know a Hero? A firefighter who entered a burning house to rescue a trapped family? A passerby who dived into a frozen lake to pull a drowning child to safety? A neighbor who administered CPR to a total stranger?
If so, then nominate your hero for the 2013 Red Cross Hero Awards.
Each year, the American Red Cross honors local individuals who have performed courageously to save a life or avert a disaster. The Red Cross is currently seeking nominations for the 2012 calendar year and it needs your help to identify local heroes.
Nominations can be accepted through the use of a mail-in/fax-in nomination form that can be downloaded (see below) or obtained from the Red Cross offices at 780 East Smith Road, Suite A, Medina, OH 44256.
As a community leader in emergency preparedness and response, the American Red Cross annually recognizes those residents of Medina Counties who have acted courageously and selflessly in a time of emergency. Often at great risk and sacrifice to their own personal safety, these ordinary individuals have acted in a heroic manner by reaching out to help others in times of greatest need. Tragedies were averted and lives were saved.
The hero event may have happened anywhere, but must have occurred in 2012. Nominees must reside or work in Medina County. The deadline for nominations is December 31, 2012. All nominations will be reviewed by a judge’s panel and heroes will be selected in early January.
Because their actions embody the ideals, principles and purpose of the Red Cross to prepare for and respond to emergencies, the selected 2012 heroes will be honored during a special ceremony in March 2013, during March is Red Cross Month.
