The American Red Cross in Blount County will recognize individuals who exemplify courage, kindness and unselfish character at its 11th Annual Heroes Breakfast.
Local heroes will be selected from nominations submitted by the community. Categories include: Fire Fighter (City, County, Volunteer); Law Enforcement (City, County, State, Federal); Emergency Personnel (Ambulance, Emergency Responder, 911 Dispatch); Medical Personnel; Adult Good Samaritan (age 21+); Youth Good Samaritan (under age 21); Community Service (Professionals, Volunteers, or groups who have made a significant positive impact in Blount County); Animal Rescue; Military.
Nominate a local hero online or pick up nomination forms at the American Red Cross, 1741 Triangle Park, Maryville, TN 37801. Either mail back, drop off or fax completed forms to 865-983-0826 by April 30. Nominees must live or work in Blount County and will be judged by a committee of civic and community leaders. Every year in Blount County, over 40 families rely on the Red Cross for emergency disaster services. The Red Cross provides some 5,000 services to military members, veterans and civilians, and over 5,000 people receive prevention, health and safety training.
The Red Cross is not a government agency and relies on volunteers, monetary contributions and donations of blood. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the American Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs.
