Red Cross Closes Palmdale Shelter

PALMDALE, June 5, 2013 - After consultation with community partners, the American Red Cross has closed its shelter at Marie Kerr Recreation Center.

The Red Cross is in contact with those affected by the Powerhouse fire and is assisting them with their recovery plans. Since its opening on May 30, the Red Cross provided a safe place to stay, food to eat and emotional support.

The Red Cross depends on financial donations to help in times of disaster. Those who want to help can make a donation to support American Red Cross Disaster Relief. To make a donation, visit, call 1-800-RED CROSS or text the word “REDCROSS” to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
