Mt Vernon fire

The American Red Cross opened a reception center at the Mount Vernon Amory the morning of April 2 to help those affected by a fire at a multi-family home on West Lincoln Avenue in Mt. Vernon, N.Y. The fire spread to the neighboring houses, leaving 36 people displaced. Red Crosser workers on scene provided water, snacks, comfort kits, blankets and emotional support for the impacted multi-generational families. Red Cross provided temporary housing at local hotels as well as funds for replacement food and clothing and continues to meet with the residents to make sure their immediate emergency needs are met.
