Baltimore—The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region assisted a Charles County family today after a fatal fire on the 5300 block of Stuckey Road in Indian Head. The Red Cross is providing emergency shelter and financial assistance to replace food, clothing and other necessities that were destroyed in the blaze.
Red Cross caseworkers will continue to follow up with everyone involved until all their immediate needs have been met.
The American Red Cross of the Chesapeake Region shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides lifesaving blood to area hospitals; teaches lifesaving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
