The Tompkins County Red Cross has immediate, daytime volunteer opportunities for friendly and professional adult individuals in our Homeless Services Program, located at 618 W. State Street Ithaca, at our Chapter, located at 2 Ascot Place Ithaca, and at blood drives located throughout Tompkins County.
Daytime Volunteer Positions include:
•Receptionists: Provide friendly hospitality by answering the phones and greeting guests and donors at our Chapter or Friendship Center.
•Meal Servers: Help assemble, serve, and clean up from a continental breakfast or bagged lunch at our Friendship Center.
•Drivers: Drive Red Cross vehicles around town to pick up essential in-kind donations and supplies. Drivers must have a valid and clean NYS driver’s license.
•Food Pantry Volunteers: Help stock, sort, and distribute emergency food to local individuals and families.
•Administrative Volunteers: Provide administrative support on a variety of projects.
•Maintenance and Facilities: Help provide a warm, hospitable space to guests through set up, cleaning, maintenance, and handyman support.
•Blood Services Volunteer: Greet and provide hospitality for blood donors at blood drives throughout the county.
We are also seeking volunteers for the following Disaster Services positions:
•Translators: Provide essential translation services during disasters or other situations. We are seeking individuals who speak languages other than English and those who are proficient in American Sign Language.
•Nurses: Are you certified nurse? The Red Cross is seeking nurses to be trained to respond as-needed to disasters locally and/or nationally.
