Red Cross Supports First Responders During Disasters

First responders
give something that means something

How many times have you received a holiday gift that you really didn’t want or need? Do you think you’ve ever given someone a holiday gift that they either exchanged or stored away because it wasn’t something they could use?

Well, this year the American Red Cross is asking shoppers to give something that means something, to give those in need the gift of hope by supporting the 2012 Red Cross Holiday Giving Campaign. One way to contribute to the campaign is to shop the 2012 Red Cross Holiday Giving Catalog and select from a variety of symbolic gifts featured in the catalog.

For instance, for as little as $45 someone can provide a hot meal, water and snacks for three emergency responders during a disaster. First responders are the brave firefighters, police officers and National Guard who react immediately to help victims in the wake of a disaster—day or night. You can help keep these caring heroes going strong with a hot meal, water and snack for a day.

Catalog “purchases” come with greeting cards shoppers can send to a friend or loved one, letting them know a donation has been made to the Red Cross in their name.

The purchase of each symbolic catalog gift item is a tax-deductible contribution and provides support to the mission of the Red Cross. The catalog gifts are contributions toward a Red Cross program area, not a donation to a specific project or item.

About our Holiday Partners

During this holiday season, the American Red Cross is grateful for the support of our corporate partners that generously contribute to our Holiday Giving Campaign. They include: University of Phoenix, Circle K West Coast Division, and the Community Safety Foundation, funded by AAA Northern California, Nevada & Utah Insurance Exchange. Thanks to the generosity of these and other sponsors, the Red Cross is able to carry out its mission of helping people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies everyday here and around the world. Each holiday season the Red Cross gives everyone the chance to support our work by giving blood, signing a card for military heroes or buying a gift through our holiday catalog.
