Red Cross responds to multiple weekend home fires

KNOXVILLE – November 26, 2012 – Four families received American Red Cross assistance over the weekend in Knox, Blount and Loudon counties. • Red Cross volunteers assisted a family of four on Saturday evening after fire destroyed the home they were renting at 1916 Rosebud Drive in Maryville. The family arranged to stay with friends while the Red Cross provided immediate emergency needs including food and clothing. • Also on Saturday, two people lost their home on Country Hill Lane in Knoxville to a fire. The Red Cross provided shelter in a local motel. • A home fire Sunday evening in Lenoir City at 2580 Browder Hollow Road displaced a family of two. The Red Cross provided food, clothing and other emergency needs. • Also on Sunday night, two people were displaced when their home at 2725 Cecil Street in Knoxville was destroyed by fire. The Red Cross provided food, clothing, referrals to other services and shelter in a local motel. The Red Cross is currently seeking additional volunteers. For information, call 865-584-2999.
