Columbus Region Participates in Annual Airport Disaster Drill
The exercise was very successful and provided insight on the Red Cross’ patient tracking system and family reunification services.

A training exercise simulating an airplane crash involving civilian and military planes was conducted at Rickenbacker International Airport on June 20th. About 40 Red Cross volunteers from the Central/Southeast Ohio Region participated in the drill. Our volunteers were joined by 80 HandsOn Central Ohio volunteers who played the victims.

The exercise was very successful and provided insight on the Red Cross’ patient tracking system and family reunification services. We were able to partner with dozens of other agencies including fire, EMS, emergency management agencies, hospitals, volunteer intake center, and more to provide the much needed humanitarian services that are required during real disasters.
