Resolve to Help With A Donation To The Red Cross

Sandy
What better way to ring in the New Year than by making a donation that you know will lend a helping hand to someone in need.

It’s time for making those annual New Year’s resolutions and the American Red Cross is asking people to resolve to support its efforts by making a tax-deductible donation to the Red Cross before the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve.

BUSY 2012 The mission of the American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. In 2012, the Red Cross mobilized almost 30,000 volunteers from all over the country to assist people affected by 113 large-scale disasters in 42 states. Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, wildfires and the spring Derecho were some of the emergencies affecting communities all across the country. From Alaska to Florida, from the East Coast to the West, few regions were spared

In the United States, the Red Cross opened 907 shelters through the beginning of December and provided more than 109,000 overnight stays. 29,889 trained disaster workers served more than 9.9 million meals and snacks and distributed more than 6.8 million relief items. Health and mental health workers provided more than 141,000 consultations.

THANK YOU So many have contributed to the Red Cross already in the face of Hurricane Sandy and the Red Cross is grateful for those donations which made it possible to assist the millions of people affected by the devastating storm.

Many also make charitable contributions at the end of the year as part of their holiday tradition, and the Red Cross depends of those donations to provide hope, help and compassion to those in need. Donations at this time of year account for about one-fifth of all contributions to the Red Cross.

If you would like to help, you can visit www.redcross.org, call 1-800- RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or contact your local chapter.

What better way to ring in the New Year than by making a donation that you know will lend a helping hand to someone in need. This year, resolve to contribute to the Red Cross before the end of the year.
