I think we should give.

To kick off March is Red Cross Month, the city of Rome held a flag-raising ceremony Feb. 28 at city hall. Mayor Joseph Fusco issued a proclamation declaring March as Red Cross Month, and a Red Cross flag was raised to honor the community’s everyday heroes, including Red Cross volunteers like Rev. Dr. Tom Hast.

Rev. Hast, who raised the flag, started volunteering with the Red Cross eight years ago, when he was moved to help after Hurricane Katrina.

“People my age have time to give and I think we should give," Rev. Hast said.
