SE Michigan Red Cross Awarded Grant to Support Veteran Programs

DETROIT, THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2013— The American Red Cross today announced a grant in support of Veterans programs awarded to the American Red Cross, Southeastern Michigan Region from the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.

This grant will enhance the Red Cross’ services to veterans and their families in Southeast Michigan. Support from the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan will help the Red Cross take the next step in building stronger relationships that identify and address emerging needs for veterans and their families, helping support their transition to civilian life. This grant will help the Red Cross to expand and adapt the programs already in place as well as provide new services.

These services include:

• Providing scholarships to veterans for Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training program that will lead to employment as a Certified Nurse Assistant.

• Providing emergency financial assistance and resources to veterans unable to receive other government and social service agency aid.

“The Red Cross is extremely grateful to be awarded this grant from the Community Foundation,” said La Forice Nealy, Regional Chief Executive Officer, the American Red Cross, Southeastern Michigan Region. “Because of their support the Red Cross will be able to enhance and expand our programs throughout the community,” said Nealy.
