SEPA Red Cross in the News: April 9 Kensington Fire Response

Families from 3 homes were helped by the Philadelphia Red Cross.

Residents remain at the comfort center manned by the American Red Cross of Southeastern Pennsylvania following a large fire in Kensington at E. York & Jasper Sts.

Red Cross crews are now surveying the fire scene for damage to residences surrounding the warehouse, and the Red Cross will provide further assistance to those who are unable to return to their homes.

This is an ongoing response.

UPDATE: 12:11 PM

After assessing the damage, it appears that the American Red Cross will need to provide further assistance to families from 3 homes that have been damaged in this fire. Exactly what assistance will be provided is still being assessed, and the Red Cross is still determining how many residents this affects. All other residents should be allowed back into their homes today.
