KNOXVILLE – November 15, 2012 – Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI), the parent company of HGTV, DIY Network, Food Network, Cooking Channel, Travel Channel and Great American Country, recently presented two separate donations to the American Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Several of their employees presented the first $250,000 check on November 6.

However, when Public Affairs Manager Stephanie Halouma returned to her office, she discovered a second donation had arrived. Perfect Sense Digital located in Reston, VA, which works with the SNI New York office on various projects added $25,000 which Scripps presented on November 15, bringing the total from SNI to $275,000. So Halouma arranged for a second check presentation.

Red Cross representatives on hand to receive Thursday’s donation included Division Vice President Sue Richter, Division Fundraising Vice President Ron Hovart, East Tennessee Regional CEO Boyd Romines, Regional Chief Development Officer Sandy Matheson, Development Officer Lori Marsh and Major Gifts Officer April Stouffer. Scripps Networks Interactive representatives included Vice President of Corporate Communications Jerilyn Bliss and Public Affairs Manager Stephanie Halouma.

Along with its corporate donation, SNI is matching employee donations to the American Red Cross dollar-for-dollar through its corporate social responsibility program, Change the World.

The company’s employees have also collected provisions needed to aid in the recovery efforts including bedding, personal care items and toys and stuffed animals to help comfort children. Food Network, Cooking Channel, HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country have been running public service announcements on air and online encouraging viewers to support relief and rebuilding efforts.

Scripps Networks Interactive is also working with other corporate social responsibility partners including Share Our Strength and Rebuilding Together to support ongoing recovery efforts related to food and shelter.
