Save A Life Saturdays

Save a Life Saturday in the Capital Region, California

There is never a bad time to learn how to save a life. Red Cross classes are available throughout the Capital Region on a daily basis, teaching critical skills that help to prepare you for disaster and know how to respond in the face of emergencies.

However, the month of March offers a few additional opportunities to make a difference. March is Red Cross Month! Throughout the month, the American Red Cross Capital Region will offer free Hands-Only CPR training sessions and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) demonstrations as part of Save-a-Life Saturdays!

In addition to Hands-Only CPR and AED – to be held in several locations within the Capital region – Red Cross volunteers will be on site sharing information about how to plan for disasters, including how to put together a disaster kit, how to make an emergency plan with your family, and special disaster activities for kids.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR! This year’s Save-A-Life Saturday events are scheduled for March 1 (Roseville/Stockton); March 8 (Modesto); and March 15 (Woodland).

How important is it to be prepared for disasters that can happen at home, the office or at school? A 2010 Red Cross survey found that one in four people (27 percent) have found themselves in a situation where someone needed CPR. Hands-Only CPR is a potentially lifesaving technique involving no mouth-to-mouth contact. It is best used in emergencies where someone has seen another person suddenly collapse. The hands-only technique increases the likelihood of surviving cardiac emergencies that occur outside medical settings.
