Silicon Valley Chapter Announces 2013 Community Hero

San Jose, CA (October 15, 2013) – The American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter will honor 18-year-old San Jose resident, Lindsay Dolan, at the 2013 Community Heroes Breakfast on Wednesday, October 23, at the Santa Clara Marriott. The annual Community Heroes Breakfast recognizes one local individual who made a difference in their community through a selfless act of heroism under extraordinary circumstances. This event is sponsored by El Camino Hospital and Kaiser Permanente and is free and open to the public.

Lindsay Dolan, a high school senior at DeAnza Middle College, was going about a normal day at her house. It was football Sunday, Lindsay was hanging out with a friend, her dad was grilling in the backyard and her mother was watching the game. Suddenly, Lindsay heard her father call for her using a tone she had never heard before. Lindsay ran down the stairs to find her mother unconscious and unresponsive. By all professional accounts, what Lindsay did next not only saved her mother’s life, but it also saved her brain and motor functions. On October 23, you will hear Lindsay’s incredible story.

The actions of Lindsay embody the principles and ideals of the Red Cross’ humanitarian mission. For more information or to RSVP for the free community breakfast, please email
