Robert Balles to Match Donations to Chapter

Robert P. Balles
For the sixth year, he will match gifts made to the American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter through the end of 2013, up to a total donation of $3,500.

Robert P. Balles, a retired college mathematics instructor and businessman, is currently a private investor and a generous philanthropist to several local organizations and schools.

For the sixth year, he will match gifts made to the American Red Cross Monterey Bay Area Chapter through the end of 2013, up to a total donation of $3,500.

Bob makes his matching donation each year in loving memory and honor of his parents, William and Marie Balles.

Robert’s mother worked for decades as a volunteer in fundraising drives for the American Red Cross in New York City, and Bob hopes to encourage others in the local community to find the joy of giving back to others.

Private donations such as Bob’s allow the local Chapter to help the residents of Monterey and San Benito Counties prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies of all sizes.

In Fiscal Year 2012-2013, the Monterey Bay Area Chapter responded to 28 local disasters and assisted 55 people affected by the incidents. More than 4,600 people learned preparedness skills and were trained in CPR, AED, first aid, and water safety skills.
