Holiday Mail for Heroes -- Red Cross Sends Cards to Our Military

Holiday Mail for Heroes - American Red Cross Los Angelese Sends Cards to Our Military
Many of the cards are hand-crafted and donated.

As part of the American Red Cross’ commitment to the military, veterans and families of the men and women who serve our country, the Red Cross sponsored five Holiday Mail for Heroes signing sessions at Red Cross Chapters in the Los Angeles Region.

The West Los Angeles Chapter hosted a signing party on December 2, attended by many who wanted to send their good wishes for happy holidays for all. The aim of the national program is to spread a little holiday cheer and a “touch of home” to members of the services who won’t make it home to celebrate with families and to those families who miss them.

The program originally started with one signing session in Los Angeles and now has grown to five sessions to meet volunteer interest. The Red Cross, since its very first days through founder Clara Barton, has always maintained on-going commitment to the military. Now, SAF – Services to the Armed Forces – ensures that veterans, current service members and their families never face their challenges without the partnership of the Red Cross.

Many of the cards are hand-crafted and donated. Once signed, they are distributed around the world and also delivered locally at the VA and other facilities in the Los Angeles area.

Other Holiday Mail for Heroes events were in Long Beach, San Gabriel Pomona Valley, Antelope Valley and Santa Monica Chapters.
