Red Cross Helping 19 People After Weekend Fires in Waterbury and Norwich

FARMINGTON, CONN., AUGUST 19, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping 19 people in six families after weekend fires in Waterbury and Norwich.

The Red Cross is helping 12 people – eight adults and four children – in three families after a fire Friday afternoon on Green Street in Waterbury. The Red Cross is providing help with emergency lodging, food, clothing and baby needs. The children affected were given stuffed toys.

The Red Cross is helping seven adults in three families with emergency lodging and food needs after a Saturday morning fire Baltic Street in Norwich.

The Red Cross is also providing all the individuals displaced with comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.  

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
