Red Cross Helping Five People After Tuesday Fire in New Britain

The Red Cross is helping with emergency needs in the wake of the fire.

NEW BRITAIN, CONN., OCTOBER 16, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping five people – three adults and two children – in two families after a fire Tuesday on Tremont Street in New Britain. The Red Cross is providing one family of two adults and one child help with emergency housing, food and clothing needs. The Red Cross is providing a second family of one adult and one child with help for emergency food needs. The family made alternative housing arrangements. Both children were provided stuffed toys.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
