MERIDEN, CONN., NOVEMBER 14, 2013 – The American Red Cross is responding to a multi-unit fire at the Merritt Station Apartments on Scott Street. The Red Cross is currently working with 38 people displaced by the fire. More than 100 residents were initially affected by the fire, but many were able to return to their homes. The building management company is assisting residents in need of housing.

The Red Cross has been on the scene since the early morning hours, meeting with clients and provided food and beverages at the community room at the complex. “A team of 16 volunteers is talking with residents one-on-one to determine needs after the fire,” said Red Cross spokesperson Paul Shipman.
