Red Cross Helping Nine People After Saturday Fire in Providence


PROVIDENCE, RI, AUGUST 19, 2013 – The American Red Cross is helping nine people – seven adults and two children – in four families after a Saturday morning fire on Rhodes Street in Providence.

Five adults and two children in three families received help with emergency food needs. Two adults in a fourth family received help with emergency housing and food needs. The children were provided stuffed toys.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. 

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
