Three Families Get Help After Providence Fire

The Red Cross is helping families with emergency needs.

PROVIDENCE, R.I, March 26, 2014 – The American Red Cross is helping 10 people – six adults and four children in three families – with emergency needs after a fire today on Alabama Avenue in Providence.

A family of three adults and two children is getting help with emergency housing and food needs. A family of one adult and two children is getting help with emergency housing, food, clothing and baby needs. A family two adults is getting help with emergency food, clothing and household needs. The children were provided stuffed animal toys. Red Cross team members Elizabeth McDonald and JoJo Baez responded to assist the families.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant, shaving supplies and other items a family might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire.

American Red Cross disaster assistance is free of charge, a gift made possible by generous donations and the work of volunteers.
