Red Cross responding to central Illinois storm damage

Severe weather ripped through central Illinois today, leaving devastation in its wake. The American Red Cross is mobilizing operations out of the Peoria chapter to respond. A team of volunteers is currently preparing the chapter's Emergency Response Vehicle with water and food, and they will head to Washington to provide assistance to those affected.

The Red Cross has opened 3 more shelters to assist after tornadoes tore through central Illinois. All locations include:

  • Crossroads United Methodist Church – 1420 N. Main St in Washington
  • Evangelical United Methodist Church – 401 Main St in Washington
  • First United Methodist Church – 154 E. Washington St in East Peoria
  • Avanti's Dome – 3105 Griffin Avenue in Pekin
