Heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but they all exhibit qualities of fearlessness and bravery. For some, it is one defining moment. They are in the right place, at the right time and they respond in a way that all of us hope we would. For others, they are the people that, through self-sacrifice and determination, make a difference in our world.

America’s spirit shines when everyday people do extraordinary things. This is the spirit that shines in the work of the American Red Cross. Every day, the Red Cross and its volunteers work to save and change lives in our community.

The Central Illinois Chapter is excited to announce that the heroes dinner will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014.  This year’s event is the first of its kind in Peoria as sponsor seating will be on the floor of the Civic Center arena allowing for special viewing of country artist and National Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet member, Sara Evans.

The Heartland Heroes Dinner has become a standing tradition in central Illinois. This event is unique in that it honors ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Rarely do heroes ask to be recognized for having displayed courage, compassion or honor when the time came. Nonetheless, the Red Cross feels it’s important to share the stories of local heroes, so that others may be inspired to act in similar ways.

Heartland Hero Dinner sponsorship opportunities are still available. Please contact John.Wahlfeld@redcross.org or call (309) 677-7272 x7214. Lower bowl concert tickets will also be available at the Peoria Civic Center Box Office or www.ticketmaster.com on January 17, 2014.
