Red Cross responds to Beardstown Home Fire

On October 30, 2013, Red Cross Disaster Action Team Volunteers responded to a house fire on East 6th Street, Beardstown, IL , with multiple families residing in the dwelling.  All families stated the fire happened as a result of a candle being knocked over and catching a person’s jacket on fire which caused the fire to spread when this person panicked.  All together there were 3 families, totaling 6 people affected by this fire.  Red Cross Volunteers provided provisions of food, clothing, and lodging for 5 of the 6 people involved.  For the other person Red Cross Volunteers provided food and clothing provisions.
