Tolli’s Pizza agreed to donate a pizza to the classroom that collected the most money.

A little coin goes a long way.

After 11-year-old Olivia Courchesne saw footage of the devastation left behind Typhoon Haiyan, she knew she had to help.

The Roberta G. Doering Middle School sixth grader received permission to create flyers and promote a coin collection in each classroom at school. She and friends Sydney Anderson and Maddy Manser even roped in Tolli’s Pizza, which agreed to donate a pizza to the classroom that collected the most money.

In the end, it was Mr. Kronlund’s class that won – and $782 was donated to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund.
