A new Ready When the Time Comes partner has hit the ground running.

NxStage Medical Inc., a Lawrence-based company that develops, manufactures and markets home dialysis systems, is already recruiting employees to join its team.

Employees Kathryn Picone and Rich MacDonald – a Red Cross disaster trainee, lead Red Cross staffers Kelly Miller and Deb Duxbury, along with volunteer Carlos Arrendondo, through a company cookout on Sept. 10 to discuss volunteer opportunities with other employees.

“We will be doing on-site disaster training so that they can respond to local disasters in the Greater Lawrence community during the work day,” Miller explained.

Ready When the Time Comes is an innovative corporate engagement program of the American Red Cross. The purpose is to prepare teams of corporate employees to be ready immediately to help in a time of a local, large-scale disaster.

RWTC volunteers can serve as daytime responders to local emergencies, volunteers during non-business hours or as reserves that can be called upon for large scale disasters for jobs including sheltering, supporting first responders or providing support to the community.
