Team Red Cross fights hunger at Boston food pantry

Team Red Cross is busy in its eighth week of training for the 118th B.A.A. Boston Marathon®, but that didn’t stop members from taking time out of their weekends to volunteer.

Several runners spent Saturday morning at the American Red Cross Food Pantry in Boston, bagging groceries for clients and delivering them to cars.

Some team members even brought along friends. Kevin Mahoney, a Cape Cod resident who works for National Grid as a Manager in the Network Strategy Department, brought along his wife, daughter, family friend and her daughter. They loved the experience, and like several other runners, plan on volunteering at the pantry again.

By the end of the day, Team Red Cross served 530 hungry families. Thank you, runners, for supporting our clients and our mission.
