Red Cross recieves aid from Eagle Scout Candidate
Each person who is displaced from their home by disaster receives a Comfort Kit containing toiletries and personal hygiene items.

Mason Hollander, a candidate for Eagle Scout and member of Boy Scout Troop 82 in Agawam, approached Mary Nathan, Disaster Program Manager for Hampden and Hampshire Counties, in January 2014 about doing a project that would benefit the American Red Cross. He decided to solicit materials from local hotels, dentists and other vendors to gather enough material to create 600 Comfort Kits. For the items he was not able to collect, he accepted a monetary donation from Smith & Wesson and also held a bottle and can drive enabling him to secure everything he still needed to produce standardized Comfort Kits.

On June 26, Mason oversaw a group of his fellow scouts and leaders as they assembled 600 of these much needed Kits including 200 specifically for children.

This donation was very timely as our supply was very depleted after the several large fires our Disaster Action Team has responded to recently. Each person who is displaced from their home by disaster receives a Comfort Kit containing toiletries and personal hygiene items.
