Red Cross Observes National Day of Service this 9/11

The Red Cross will commemorate the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by partnering with HOPE worldwide and UMASS Veteran Services to observe the National Day of Service.

Red Cross to Commemorate September 11 with Volunteer Service

September 10, 2013, Springfield, MA - The Red Cross will commemorate the 12th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by partnering with HOPE worldwide and UMASS Veteran Services to observe the National Day of Service. Volunteers from each organization along with local veterans will go door to door, distributing fire prevention and disaster preparedness materials in vulnerable neighborhoods across western Massachusetts.

September 11th was designated a national day of service by the 2009 Kennedy Serve America Act. The Corporation for National and Community Service leads the annual event, working with MyGoodDeed and hundreds of nonprofit groups, faith-based organizations, and schools and businesses nationwide.
