American Red Cross Receives United Way of York County 2014 Community Investment

The American Red Cross of Maine has been awarded a 1-year grant of $9,200 from United Way of York County. The grant supports Red Cross disaster services, which provide food, clothing, and shelter for those impacted by disasters, such as house fires, floods, and ice storms.

Through the mobilization of resources, expertise and funds that support programs focused on the essentials of education, financial stability and health, United Way of York County advances the common good and strengthens the whole community.

The Red Cross responds to nearly 300 disasters — primarily house fires — each year in Maine.

Thanks to the continued support of many dedicated individuals, businesses and organizations throughout York County, this year, the United Way is investing in 65 community programs serving children, youth, adults and families.

“We applaud the generosity of so many who support United Way’s work throughout the year,” noted United Way of York County President & CEO Barb Wentworth. ”As a result, in 2014 we are able to provide continued and much needed support for essential human services across the region. These important services are a critical component of our collective efforts to build an even stronger York County.”
