Red Cross Offers Spring Break Babysitter’s Training

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 7, 2014 — For those planning a “staycation” for spring break, the American Red Cross is offering Babysitter’s Training courses. The class is designed for youth between 11 and 15 years old to learn the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly care for children and infants.

The American Red Cross of West Michigan will be offering courses from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. at the following locations:

Tuesday, April 8
True North Community Services
6308 S. Warner Ave.; Fremont

Wednesday, April 9; Thursday, April 10; & Saturday, April 12

American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids
1050 Fuller Ave. NE; Grand Rapids

The course costs $85, and includes lessons on basic care for children and infants, how to develop a babysitting business, basic health and safety for children, first aid, basic child behavior knowledge and leadership development. Students are encouraged to bring snacks and pack a lunch.

For those who would like to learn more about babysitting, but have busy schedules, the Red Cross also has an online course called Babysitting Basics, which is $25 and can be taken at any time.
