Red Cross Assists Family of 5 After Fire In Breckenridge, MN

This is the fourth home fire the Red Cross has responded to in the Minn-Kota Territory since October 17th.

The Dakotas Region of the American Red Cross responded to a home fire in Breckenridge, MN that occurred early Wednesday morning. Red Cross workers provided assistance to two adults, three teenagers, and one dog. The home appears to be a total loss.

The Red Cross is providing shelter for the family in a hotel, along with clothing and food. We will be reaching out to other community partners to help the family recover. Smoke alarms were functioning and alerted the family of fire in the home.

SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES Install smoke alarms on every level of the home and outside each sleeping area. Put a smoke alarm inside every bedroom. Because smoke rises, put the alarms on the ceiling or high on the wall. Test the smoke alarms regularly. Install new batteries every year. Get new smoke alarms every ten years.
