Northwestern Energy has selected the American Red Cross chapters in Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska as its 2014 Community Works Employee Volunteer Partner.

Each year, Northwestern Energy solicits interest from nonprofit organizations that operate within their three-state service territory to partner with volunteer opportunities for their employees throughout the year in their communities.

The three Red Cross chapters will split a $25,000 corporate donation. Typically, NorthWestern Energy employees raise about the same amount in funds throughout the year for their corporate partner through various events, employee tournaments and activities. All funds raised support disaster relief and preparedness in NorthWestern Energy’s areas of operation.

“This partnership is incredibly generous and very important to us,” said Diane Wright, Chief Development Officer for American Red Cross of Montana. “This gift of volunteer time and money enables Red Cross to respond immediately to the needs of individuals and families impacted by disaster.”

Now in its seventh year, the Community Works Employee Volunteer Partner sponsorship has raised almost $300,000 for various non-profit organizations.

“We are grateful for the generosity of corporate donors like NorthWestern Energy who are members of our Montana 100 Society giving $5,000 or more annually,” said Wright. “We are privileged to put their compassion into action whether it’s a hot meal delivered to victims after a disaster, blood when it is needed most, or a shelter when there is nowhere else to turn.”
