Disaster Responders' Volunteer Fair/Tour

YOU ARE INVITED

Disaster Responders’ Volunteer Fair/Tour

Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross

You are invited to a volunteer “fair” for Disaster Cycle Services volunteers being held on January 13, 2014 at the Mid-Hudson Valley Chapter.  The fair will allow existing volunteers to re-connect with other chapter volunteers engaged in all of the Red Cross’s disaster activities.   If you need more information about becoming more actively engaged in the activities you chose previously or you want to select an additional or different activity, or you just want to meet with your fellow volunteers  this fair is for you.

The fair is structured as a tour of Red Cross land. After receiving your tour documents at the departure lounge, you will be able to travel to various countries (activities), including our Disaster Action Teams, Mass Care (Sheltering, Feeding, Bulk distribution), Individual Clients Services (Client Casework, Disaster Health Services and Disaster Mental Health), Logistics, External Relations, information and Planning, and Staff Services.  Volunteers will be present to discuss their activities with you, including the time commitment, training requirements and projects on which your help is needed.  You also will be able to travel to the countries of SABA and Volunteer Connection to receive help speaking their language and using those websites.

After your travels are complete, you will be invited to the arrival lounge for refreshments (hors d’oeuvres and desserts) and door prizes.  We hope you will join your fellow volunteers for this Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services tour.  The tour starts at 6:30 pm on January 13, 214 and  departs from 103 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY.

So that we have enough seats and refreshments on hand, please reserve your ticket now by emailing Darryl Lafferty at Darryl.Lafferty@redcross.org.  Last minute bookings will be accepted!  No one will be turned away!

Please check-in again for last minute tour details including information on parking.

While this invitation is being extended to all Red Cross volunteers in Dutchess, Ulster, Columbia and Greene counties, volunteers from other areas of Northeastern New York Region are welcome to take the tour.
