The American Red Cross and NBT Bank have entered a partnership that will enable the Red Cross to recognize heroic youths throughout the Southern Tier, Central New York and the Mohawk Valley.
NBT Bank will sponsor the Youth Good Samaritan Award at the Red Cross’ 2014 Real Heroes Breakfast events in Cortland, Binghamton, Utica and Syracuse. The Real Heroes Breakfast is the Red Cross’ signature event because it celebrates the Red Cross mission of alleviating human suffering by recognizing people from throughout the region who have performed heroic acts in life-threatening situations.
American Red Cross and NBT Bank formally announced their partnership a news conference/check presentation on April 10 at NBT Bank, 3121 Vestal Parkway East, Vestal.
The Youth Good Samaritan Award is presented to a person 21 or younger who used his or her skills to save a life. All proceeds from Real Heroes Breakfast sponsorships and tickets sales go to the American Red Cross for its services throughout the Central New York Region.
“NBT Bank is pleased to partner with the American Red Cross to recognize the heroism of the four special young people who will receive Youth Good Samaritan Awards at the Real Heroes Breakfast events being held across our shared market area,” said NBT Bank Greater Binghamton Regional President Jeffrey Lake. “Our support of this award is an extension of our bank’s larger commitment to helping youth and young adults develop the skills and perspective they need to be successful adults through our financial education programs and support of community initiatives.”
NBT Bank will sponsor the Youth Good Samaritan Award at the following Real Heroes Breakfasts this year:
“We are grateful to NBT Bank for its continued support of the American Red Cross and our Real Heroes Breakfast events throughout the region,” said Shelley Bierwiler, Community Executive of the American Red Cross of the Southern Tier. “The Youth Good Samaritan Award is a special one for us because it demonstrates that the Red Cross mission of helping others will continue with the next generation.”
