Red Cross Supporting Shelters in Allegany and Chautauqua Counties

The American Red Cross is currently supporting mulitple shelters and warming stations in Allegany and Chautauqua Counties in response to the bitter cold and snow. The Red Cross remains in contact with emergency managers from across the 17 County Western New York/Finger Lakes Regions and are ready to respond further as necessary.

Red Cross shelters are currently open at:

  • Cuba-Rushford Elementary School, 15 Elm Street, Cuba, NY
  • Christian Temple Church, 99 Maple Ave, Wellsville, NY

At 8pm Monday evening, the American Red Cross will begin supporting a shelter at Thruway Exit 61 in Ripley, NY for travelers stranded by Thruway closures. Staff and volunteers will also be opeing a Warming Center from 8am-4pm Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, 290 North Main Street, Wellsville.

In additon, the Red Cross will be supporting five Warming Centers that the Allegany County Office for the Aging will be opening on Tuesday in Belmont, Canaseraga, Cuba, Friendship and Whitesville.
