NGLP & Red Cross Club Students Travel to St. Bonaventure

Bonaventure

Students from the Next Generation Leaders Program and local Red Cross Clubs traveled to the Southern Tier on Martin Luther King, Jr. day to explore St. Bonaventure University.  Eighteen students from various Rochester City Schools received a tour of the campus, met with ten students from the Higher Education Opportunity program and heard from grad school student Christopher Scheppner about his St. Bonaventure experience.  Many students who attended the field trip said they would be interested in attending the St. Bonaventure.

The field trip to St. Bonaventure resulted from a coordinated effort between the University, the American Red Cross and the Rochester City School District. Those who helped organize the trip included: Youth leaders from the American Red Cross in the Western New York/Fingers Lakes Region: Liz Cinquino, Jennifer Taylor and Meghan Reno; St. Bonaventure staff: Kathryn Dillon-Hogan and Monic Mattioli; and Rochester City School District staff:  Nydia Padilla-Rodriguez and Rosemary Villarrubia-Izzo.

The Next Generation Leaders Program and Red Cross clubs help students develop skills needed to become a successful leader and ensure a successful future after graduation from high school and college. The NGLP began in 1986, and thousands of students have graduated from the program with life-saving and leadership skills that have helped them ensure a successful future.  This year’s NGLP participants will graduate from the program in May.
