In one form or another, the American Red Cross has been assisting citizens in northeast Oklahoma since 1906. Then, it was known as the Indian Territory Branch Red Cross and the Chiefs of the Five Tribes served as the first vice presidents of our local organization.
Delivering on the Red Cross mission decade after decade has been possible only through the support of our local community. This year’s Rescue Gala gives us the opportunity to look back and honor the rich history of the Red Cross.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, and its employees, will be recognized for their long history of generosity to the American Red Cross with the Social Responsibility Award.
The Oklahoma Spirit Award recognizes those who make Oklahoma a better place for all. The Chiefs of the Five Tribes who established the Indian Territory Red Cross and laid the groundwork for a system of delivering help that still thrives today will be honored as well.
