American Red Cross Responds to 2-Alarm Fire in Northampton County

(Bethlehem, PA) November 30, 2013 – On November 30, 2013, at approximately 6:15 A.M., the American Red Cross Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter responded to a 2-alarm fire at an apartment building on Polk Street in Bethlehem. The Red Cross provided the following services: first family (1 individual) received lodging, food, clothing, shoes and seasonal garments; second family (3 individuals) received lodging, food and clothing; third family (1 individual) received food, lodging and clothing; fourth family (1 individual) received food, clothing, lodging and shoes; fifth family (1 individual) received clothing and food. The Red Cross provided comfort kits to everyone in addition to blankets, due to the freezing temperatures and will follow-up with the families for additional services, as needed.

Additionally, the Red Cross provided canteen services including: coffee, hot chocolate, tea, assorted cold drinks and snacks to both displaced individuals and emergency responders.
