Red Crossroads to Tackle - NEPA

A chance to change your life and that ofsomeone else
Aside from disaster response, the Red Cross is responsible for many other facets of assisting those in need.

The American Red Cross, operating since 1881, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. It was originally founded by Clara Barton, who risked her life by bringing supplies to soldiers on the battlefield during the Civil War.

The Red Cross Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter is one of thirteen chapters of the Northeast Pennsylvania Region. We serve close to 720,000 residents from Northampton, Lehigh and Carbon counties.

The Red Cross is well-known for disaster response, both locally and nationally. From fires and floods, to storms and other emergencies, the Red Cross answers the call with care and compassion. Preparing for a disastrous event is the key to staying safe. The offer of a hot meal, warm blanket, comfort kit or the means to buy clothing and food helps fulfill the immediate needs of individuals and families having just experienced a tragic event. Assisting with the often daunting task of filling out necessary paperwork in order to recover can be made easier with the help of individuals who care.

Aside from disaster response, the Red Cross is responsible for many other facets of assisting those in need. Through the Service to Armed Forces program, the Red Cross continues its strong commitment to those serving in our military. During a medical emergency, the Red Cross can deliver a message from a family to their service member overseas, often in an undisclosed location. Pre and post-deployment programs are also offered to the military and their families.
