CAR CRASHES INTO HOME, RED CROSS ASSISTS RESIDENTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE… (Bennington, Vermont – October 8, 2013) — In the early hours of this morning, the 259 Union Street home of a couple and their three dogs in Bennington, VT was struck by a vehicle. Power to the building was cut and an inspection deemed the house unsafe for the family to return at this point.

Red Cross volunteers met with the couple to determine their emergency needs and provided temporary lodging. The Red Cross volunteers with the Bennington Disaster Action Team that went to the scene of the crash are part of a network of 12 such teams throughout the Vermont & the New Hampshire Upper Valley Region. Those teams stand ready to respond day and night, 365 days a year.
