On Thursday, March 6, 2014, the Benton-Franklin Chapter of the American Red Cross will host its annual ‘Real Heroes’ Breakfast at the TRAC Center in Pasco. Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the ‘Real Heroes’ Breakfast celebrates the power of humanitarian spirit in our community by honoring local citizens for doing something remarkable to help others. The event also raises critical funding for local Red Cross programs including 24 hour-a-day disaster relief and preparedness education programs.
During the event, individuals will be recognized in several award categories including Spirit of the Red Cross Hero, Humanitarian Hero, Animal Rescue Hero, Workplace Safety Hero, Community Organization Hero, Citizen Rescue Hero, Emergency Service Hero, and Blood Donation Hero. Each Hero Award recipient will be introduced by a professionally produced vignette from KNDU that tells the story of their heroism in the particular award category for which they were nominated and presented with a special, engraved medallion. The ‘Real Heroes’ Breakfast typically draws over 600 business and civic leaders in celebration of ordinary people doing extraordinary deeds in Benton and Franklin counties.
This event is open to the public, although RSVPs are required by February 25th for attendance. There is no charge to attend the breakfast, but guests will have the opportunity to make a gift in support of the Red Cross during the event.
